Tips for Work at Home Mothers–Time Management

Posted by Admin on March 25th, 2010 at 2:59 am

Anyone who works at home can tell you it can be tough, but when you add children to the mix, your stress level will tend to be sky high.  So although trying to find a good balance between your work obligations and time with your children is hard, you can ease the burden a bit by effectively managing your time.

Family Time

No matter what, setting aside some family time is important as your family should be top priority.  The time you decide to do that will greatly depend upon your child’s school and activity schedule.  During your time together, enjoy a meal, talk about their day, and enjoy an activity.  Spending time together will be something you both look forward to.

Child Care

Find a babysitter to take care of your children for a few hours everyday or a get them a play date at a friends house.  This will give you much needed time to complete your work in peace and quiet and hopefully, you will finish faster.

Work Around Their Schedule

If your children go to school, you should try to work as much as possible while they are gone.  This way you will have more time to devote to them when they are home.  If your child is too young to go to school, do your most vital tasks during their nap time.

Working during your children’s bedtime is another way to get some much needed work completed while everyone in the house is quiet.

Interruptions and Distractions

Turn off the telephone ringer and your television in order to minimize distractions during your work day.  Since you are a self-employed, home worker, you have to be your own boss and maintain a level of discipline in order to succeed.  The less interruptions and distractions you have, the quicker you can finish your tasks and the sooner you can spend quality time with your family.
